Below you will find some of the most common questions we hear about Gloss. More detailed information can be found in the online documentation.
What are the limits of the demo?
- You must have a valid API password/token
- Each issued password/token is good for thirty (30) days
- You can only upload 100 PDF files
- Each PDF cannot be larger than 200 MB
- We automatically add a ‘Demo’ watermark annotation to every uploaded page
How is Gloss licensed?
- Gloss is licensed per unique user, and we offer two (2) feature tiers and two (2) billing methodologies. You can read all about it on our licensing page.
- We support a variety of user accounting schemes so long as each unique user is properly identified. This is covered in greater detail in the documentation.
What options are there for implementing Gloss into an existing FileMaker solution?
- We provide documentation to show you how to migrate Gloss from the Gloss Demo file to an existing FileMaker solution. This lets you test Gloss in a working solution, subject to the limitations of the demo environment.
- We’re also happy to help you implement Gloss via our Coaching service or as a project. In either case, simply contact us to discuss it.
Where do I find the Public Documentation for Gloss?

Are my documents secure?
- Yes.
- We ensure the security of your data by encrypting all Gloss network traffic during transmission using TLS/SSL.
- Your PDF documents are temporarily stored in a secure, private AWS S3 bucket with encryption. Importantly, they are stored without their original filenames for an added layer of protection.
- Gloss manages the list of stored documents and their associated Gloss accounts. To access each record in this list and the corresponding document, account authentication is required.
Does Gloss support encrypted PDFs?
- Not at this time.
- Gloss will store an encrypted PDF and let you view it, prompting you for the password, but any annotations you create will not be saved to the document and an error will be thrown each time you attempt to do so.
What ports does Gloss use?
- Gloss uses ports 5443 and 6443
