Claris FileMaker 2025: New AI capabilities, tools, enhancements, and more

The newest version of Claris FileMaker was released on Tuesday. Many of you know that we use the Claris platform to build powerful custom software, web interfaces, and mobile applications. FileMaker’s stability and versatility make it a leading choice for custom software development, and it’s trusted by enterprises around the world. FileMaker 2025 gives us even more options to build solutions tailored to solving your unique business challenges.

Here are some of the key takeaways from this week’s product release.

Put AI to work for your enterprise

If you’ve been wondering how best to incorporate AI into your technology landscape, custom software built on FileMaker 2025 gives you the opportunity. Its new AI capabilities and enhancements make it easier to incorporate artificial intelligence into your custom applications:

  • Create AI solutions that generate answers based on documents with large language models (LLMs) and built-in retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) space. This is particularly useful because it allows LLMs to pull in additional specialized or updated knowledge before generating a response.
  • Download, host, and manage LLMs directly. With FileMaker 2025, your apps can utilize cloud, on-premise, or hybrid models. One example Claris provides is the ability to use a cloud-based model to draft marketing emails while a local model analyzes sales data securely.
  • Take advantage of more precise predictive analytics and optimized natural-language semantic search.

These improvements come alongside a variety of usability and performance enhancements and new development tools for creating innovative, secure, and scalable solutions.

As Claris CEO Ryan McCann said in this week’s launch announcement, “We’re beyond AI being a trend — it’s reshaping how we work and the tools we choose today.” FileMaker 2025 gives us new tools in our arsenal not only to help your team identify the best problems to solve, but to choose the best AI capabilities to add value to your work.

FileMaker 2025 includes access to the entire Claris platform

The other big news in this week’s release announcement is that Claris FileMaker 2025 customers with most active licenses will get full access to Claris Connect and Claris Studio at no additional cost. This makes it easier to deploy custom software and top-of-the-line web experiences with custom web forms in order to capture the data you need from customers, vendors, partners, and more.

With Claris Studio, data can flow directly into FileMaker and control workflow automation without ever leaving the platform. An enhanced FileMaker Connector improves the bidirectional data flow between FileMaker and Claris Studio, making it easier for members of your team to view and engage with data. In addition, Claris Studio provides options for custom dashboards and the ability to work with data via familiar spreadsheets and list-detail views, while also providing options for kanban boards, sequential timelines, and data-driven calendars for project management.

Access to the unified Claris platform opens up a range of new use cases for custom software and technology. Our development team now has more options to integrate data with your applications in ways that save time and effort, remove friction from how you work, and make it easier for you to serve your clients.

Ready to update?

Not only does FileMaker 2025 give you new capabilities to build modern, AI-powered solutions, it comes with a host of security and stability upgrades. If your organization is relying on an older version of FileMaker, your software may not be running as efficiently as it could. And no matter how diligently your team works, outdated software is inherently more vulnerable to issues.
